What Happened to Repentance?

(Page 2)

Why don't individuals that claim to love God sight the
importance of repentance and theovercoming of sin?

Luke 5:32
I came not to call the righteous,
but sinners to repentance.

Those truly In Christ, God's Good and Righteousness, repent of dead works, and teach repentance from dead works.
Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

The word repent means to change one's mind. Changing of the mind requires an action. Ungodly lifestyles need to be changed to Godly lifestyles for a successful outcome in becoming Sons of God.
Psalms 37:27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
Proverbs 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Proverbs 16:17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
Lamentations 3:40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.
Jeremiah 18:11 Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.
Jeremiah 36:3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.
Jeremiah 23:22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.
Ezekiel 18:21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
Ezekiel 18:30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
Ezekiel 18:32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.
Ezekiel 33:9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
Amos 5:14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
Jonah 3:10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
Zechariah 1:4 Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.
Romans 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
Romans 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
3 John 1:11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Anyone can say, "Lord, I repent". True repentance is reach by a true heartfelt action, and a desire to want to change.
2 Timothy 2:19-22 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Repentance unto life does consist of two (2) things,
1. Turning from all sin and forsaking it.
2. Turning to the knowledge of God, His Good and Righteousness that is found in the Ten Commandments, which Jesus Physically brought, taught, and displayed for all the families of earth to overcome sin. Jesus is man's Example of what it takes to become a true son of God, being a Son of God Himself.
Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
Acts 11:18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
2 Timothy 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
1 Thessalonians 2:12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

Individuals that truly seek God, His Good, and His heavenly Kingdom need to see how they are allowing sin to destroy their temporary life on earth, and how they are allowing it to steal their after-life. They need to confess, repent of sin daily, and apply God's Ten Commandments of Good and Righteousness to their lives now and forevermore.
Psalms 86:3 Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.
Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
1 Corinthians 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
2 Corinthians 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

All that claim to love God should see and feel the severity of sin, and its wickedness in the horrific torture and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. They should be filled with deep sorrow for their sin.
Where is the love in an impenitent heart?
If a child does not acknowledge they have done wrong (sin), nor do they seek forgiveness for the wrong doings, that child will more likely do it again, because they have not learned a thing of the wrong (sin) they have done, nor how to overcome it.

Repentance must first take place to obtain forgiveness for sin to be blotted out for the cleanliness of salvation. If such doesn't take place each time sin is partaken of, the spirit will be clothed in/with the filth of sin, and the spiritual existence can/will become weak. If the spiritual existence is weak, so too will the physical existence become weak.
Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Forgiveness from sin becomes personally given by the Lord to any individual who Loves the Lord enough to acknowledge and repent of their sin with a contrite heart.
Psalms 32:5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
Jeremiah 3:12-13 Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever. Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 14:20 We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee.
Hosea 5:15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.
Sadly, many are taught today that repentance is a one time action, and its okay to continue to accommodate sin, and wayward activities against God.

Jesus did Not say "I'll forgive all your sin, and give you eternal life, and you don’t have to worry about giving up anything".
Individuals must give up their treasures of the world and the ways of the wayward world. Love for God and His Righteous Good must be number one in their lives. If an individual truly loves God, His Good and Righteousness, those worldly things will be of no matter to them and they will hate sin, because God does hate sin.

Forgiveness and repentance go hand in hand. There is no forgiveness without repentance. God does Not forgive an individual that doesn't repent and have true remorse in their hearts.
2 Corinthians 7:9-10 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
Psalms 38:18 For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.
Without repentance and a contrite heart for forgiveness, God knows nothing has been learned about the sin or how to overcome it. God will Not allow any sin to enter His Kingdom to destroy all that He loves, and those that love Him.

Would you want to live in a heaven that's likened to wayward earth for eternality?
(Lying, stealing, murder, adultery, fornication, false witness, blasphemies, cold-hearted, dislike, hatred, arrogant, unfriendly, cruel, revengeful, hostility, evil thoughts, spite, grievance, despise, jealousy/envy, bitterness, feel disgust for, resentment, displeasure, unhappiness, anger, infidelity, dishonesty, uncaring, unmerciful, unkind, disrespectful, unappreciative, selfish, uncompassionate, inconsiderate, unruly, prideful, deceitful, immoral, dishonorable, hypocrite, kidnapping, rape, sodomy, open fornication, homosexuality, prostitution, drunkenness, drug addiction, animalistic behavior, whoremongers, sorcerers/witchcraft, idolaters, lustful, unrighteous, rude, prejudice/racist, unforgiving, greedy, abusive/violent, disease, famine, and starvation!)
Sin does spread like wild fire, and would destroy God's Heavenly Kingdom. Sin does have a life of its own. Sin does not just affect the partaker, but does have a domino effect. Sin does seek to destroy everything and everyone in its path.
God will Not allow any sin to enter His Heavenly Kingdom to destroy all that He has created, loves, and those that love Him. God knows who truly has allegiance to Him and His Righteous Good.

On the day of Pentecost, Peter preached to the men of Israel, and they were pricked in their heart. The men of Israel said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" Peter did Not say, just believe and you will be saved. Peter taught them to repent, and be obedient to the Lord for remission of their sin, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins."
Acts 2:36-37 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The Lord Jesus is patient, not wanting any to perish, but desires all to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Jesus doesn't give eternal living life to anyone who will not truly follow in His footsteps of Good and Righteousness to heaven. If Christ is truly followed, then His Ten Commandments are kept, because He kept them. Jesus also wrote the Ten Commandments with His Holy Finger, which makes them Holy.
1 John 2:29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
Romans 7:12-13  Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
Luke 1:6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
John 15:10  If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
Jude 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Mark 10:17-19  And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
Leviticus 20:7 Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.
1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
1 Timothy 5:22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.
Ephesians 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Job 29:14 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.
Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

God's Salvation is not a mystical event, nor is it obtained by reciting a couple of words of a sinners prayer. It is a renewed way of life that will lead to eternal living life if one abides in it.
Individuals must take up their cross (crucify their sin) daily with repentance in their hearts. Eventually, sin will have no place in their lives.
Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
2 Corinthians 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
1 Chronicles 16:23 Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.

Individuals need to make sure they are clean inside and out, and worthy of God's Salvation and Eternal Life.
2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Matthew 23:25-28 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Psalms 18:23 I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.
Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Repentance unto salvation should result in works of Good for an individual that truly seeks the Kingdom of God.
• If repentance does not result in works of Good, then the individual has not truly repented concerning sin.
• If an individual continues to walk in Good, their works will be of Good.

Individuals that do gain the Lord's Forgiveness from sin, are those whom do truly Love Him enough,
• To be willing to not continue to remain blinded by sin.
• To be willing to acknowledge their sin.
• To be willing to be truly Repentant of their sin.
• To be willing to fully manifest their own True Repentance from sin.
• To be willing to continually manifest their Repentance of their sin.
• To be willing to be continually aware of the temptations by sin.

The First step towards healing the sickness of sin is to acknowledge the sickness itself.
Psalms 32:1-5 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah. I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

The Second Step to healing is true heartfelt sorrow and remorse.
Psalms 38:18 For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

The Third Step to healing is overcoming sin. If we want to continue to be healed, we must do something about it... overcome sin. This is the most important part of repentance. It is easy to admit and confess your sin to express sorrow for sin. Many do it every day when they pray; but stopping sin, turning from sin, avoiding sin, that is an entirely different matter. True repentance is not just feeling sorry for sin, but feeling sorry enough to quit/stop.
The good news is; All can do it, if they truly love the Lord, His Righteous Good, and truly seek to be part of the kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus did overcome the world's sin, and so can everyone else upon the planet, if they choose to truly walk as He walked. He is man's Example to "Follow" after for a successful outcome.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
Revelation 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
Revelation 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
Revelation 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Revelation 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

The Fourth Step to healing is repentance, which always includes a complete change of life unto Godliness and righteousness.
Individuals that truly seek the Righteous Kingdom of God with all their heart, soul, and mind,
• Hate what God hates and love what God loves.
• Turn from sin instead of towards sin.
• Put on, and walk in Righteousness now and forevermore.
• Love to obey God's will.
Deuteronomy 16:22 Neither shalt thou set thee up any image; which the LORD thy God hateth.
Psalms 5:5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
Revelation 2:6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Zechariah 8:17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.
Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
Psalms 11:7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
Psalms 11:5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

If an individual thinks they don't have to continually repent when they sin to be covered in God's Grace, then they also do not need an Advocate, Mediator, nor the Holy Spirit to convict them of sin. Instead they choose to walk in the filth of sin that separates them from God.
1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Individuals of earth must make a life changing decision, if they want to continue to live long-term (eternal). They must repent, and stop partaking of the world's fruit (sin), and choose to walk in God's Good and Righteousness to become a true Son of God.

Those that truly seek God's Kingdom of Good and Righteousness,
• Confess their sin daily (take up their cross).
• Have heartfelt sorrow for committing sin, and sin no more.
• Hate sin, because God hates sin.
• Stop acting on temptation, and partaking of the world's sin.
• Change their lifestyle by serving the Lord, His Righteous Good, and choose not to serve destructive sin and its evil.
Individuals that are not Forgiven and Cleansed from sin, are individuals that don't pay any mind to the destruction that sin does cause upon the planet.
Individuals that are not Forgiven and Cleansed from sin, are individuals that accept, embrace, or contribute to the sin upon the planet, for one ungodly reason or another.

Individuals without Forgiveness will most assuredly accord the destruction of the things surrounding them elsewhere in the universe. Eternal Life is not given to those individuals that will allow sin to accord the destruction of the things surrounding them that God took so much time and effort to create; they will choose to do the same in heaven and the heaven of heavens (Deuteronomy 10:14). What they sow on earth, they will also sow in heaven!

The Lord know's if an individual is truly trying to overcome sin or not.
Intellectual life is unable to survive long-term (eternally) without the
acceptance and assimilation of the positive nature of God's Knowledge
of what is Good & Righteous or what is not Good & Righteous being established
fully within their very existence and being!
